No matter how cautiously you cook food, the remnants of the food or ingredients will fall over the gas stove and cooktops. And let’s face it. A dirty gas stove and cooktop is not only a pretty sight to behold but it also affects the appliances adversely. What’s worse? An uncleaned gas stove is a potential fire hazard too. But, the good part is that cleaning a gas stove takes little effort and with regular cleaning; you can keep your cooktop in top-notch condition!

We have listed some easy cleaning methods to make your cooking surfaces shine like new, of course without breaking a sweat. As each cooktop is different, before you commence, ensure to refer to the manual that came with your appliance!

Listed some easy cleaning methods

Ammonia

Agreed, ammonia is not such an ideal solution for cleaning anything, but it does make an easy choice for removing the greasy stains off the gas burner. Simply place the removable gas burners in a ziplock pouch and add ammonia to the same. Allow the solution to work overnight, rinse the burners under running water and notice the shine!

Baking Soda and Hydrogen Peroxide

The hack is simple yet super effective on tough stains and marks on the cooktop. Sprinkle some baking soda and hydrogen peroxide over the stains. The solution will start frizzing and become a gunk-type substance. Let it rest on the stains and rinse it off when you notice the stains become dull. Wipe the cooktop with a soft dry cloth.

Salt and Baking Soda

Prepare a cleaning solution of one tablespoon of salt and baking soda and blend it well with some water. Dip a rag cloth in the mixture and apply it to the gunk and stains. This easy-to-do cleaning hack can be used frequently to keep your cooktop in good condition! Instead of salt, you can even use one tablespoon of lemon juice to clean the gas stove!

Baking Soda and Dish Cleanser

Combine one tablespoon of baking soda and dish liquid cleanser in a bowl and mix it well until it forms a frosting consistency. Apply the prepared mixture to the greasy areas on the cooktop. You can even apply it to the pans and utensils with grime stains. Let it rest for 40-45 minutes and scrub off the gunk with a sponge. Wipe the cooktop with a clean towel dipped in water and make the gas stove clean instantly!

Boiling Water

It is OK if you don’t wish to apply any chemical solutions to your costly cooktop. You can still keep it sparkly clean with just boiling water! Just carefully pour some boiling water over the dirty marks and surfaces. Allow the water to work its magic for a minute or two and scrub the stains off with some soapy water on a cloth or sponge. This eco-friendly and appliance-friendly hack is ideal for everyday or frequent usage!

Soap and Water

Mix a mild dish soap or cleanser with water and apply it with a scrubber sponge over the dirty cooktop. Any food residuals, debris, or stains will easily come off with this easy cleaning solution. For tough stains, you can prepare a thick paste of baking soda and hot water and apply it to the areas that require cleaning. Let it sit for around 20 minutes, gently scrub off the stains and rinse the burner under running water. Wipe the burners with a dry cloth before adding them back to the gas stove.

Vegetable Oil

Take some cooking oil i.e.olive oil and apply it to the stains and spots that need to go asap. Wipe off the oil after 30 minutes with a damp cloth. This simple cleaning hack works wonders to clean the stove hood as well!

White Vinegar

White vinegar is considered the best cleanser and can be used to clean and maintain the cooktop surfaces. Prepare a mixture of one tablespoon of vinegar and two tablespoons of water and apply it to the grime and stains. Wipe it with a clean cloth and make the gas stove stain-free and shine like new! You can use this simple DIY mixture as a disinfectant around the kitchen!

Oven Cleaner

Use an oven cleaner for cleaning the stove cooktops. Spray the cleaner on greasy burners and let it coated for 6-7 hours or even overnight. Scrub off the burners in soapy water using a sponge. Dry off the burner and pieces and place it back on the cooktop.

Razor Scraper

Use a razor scraper to remove the stains off the cooktop. Hold the blade at the side angle and slowly scrape off the residue. Wipe off the stains or remnants with a damp cloth or sponge. For that extra shine, use the oven cleaner or a mixture of dish soap and water.

Note - Before starting with your cooktop cleaning mission, ensure that the stove is off and is cool as well. Wipe off any food particles, loose crumbs, etc. with a paper towel, and then use any of the above-mentioned cleaning hacks to clean the cooktop thoroughly.

A cooktop should be cleaned regularly to get rid of stains immediately. The longer you take to clean the stove, it will build up tough grime and will eventually make you spend more time keeping the cooktop clean and hygienic. After you thoroughly clean the gas stove, ensure to maintain it regularly to avoid dealing with a heavy cleaning process. After all, there is nothing like cooking your favorite dishes over a sparkly clean cooktop and impressing with your maintenance skills!
